Lead Climbing at Oasis

So you'd like to Lead Climb at Oasis?
“Lead Climbing” means climbing while clipping the rope into fixed protection points as the climber ascends, rather than being secured from above. “Lead Belaying” means managing rope slack and catching falls during a lead climb using an approved belay device and technique.

Lead Climbing carries a much greater risk and responsibility than Top Rope Climbing.

We ask that you complete a Lead Waiver before you start your lead climbing assessment or lessons.
Any person, child or adult, can have a lead assessment once per day.

All lead climbers must use a proper climbing harness.
A rental harness is not acceptable for lead climbing.

Learn to Lead Climb
At Oasis, we love to teach lead climbing and give you to access all the exciting walls we have to offer.
We have helped thousands of youth and adult climbers take their first steps into lead climbing.

In our youth climbing course, we teach lead climbing to students who demonstrate the skill and responsibility to handle this higher-risk activity.

If you would like to learn privately, we offer lessons for individuals or partners through our ClimbWell program.

We recommend 2-3x 60 minute lessons spaced a week apart to give you time between to practice.

Private Lessons cost between $70, $80, or $90 per hour depending on the experience of your instructor.
The fees for private lessons cover all participants' day passes and equipment hire.
If you have 2 participants, you can split the cost!

Participants also get 7 days of membership following their private lesson.
What a bargain!
