A New Curriculum and Coach Briefing for 2026

Updated: Apr 6

Our Oasis Team has been busy behind the scenes preparing something big for 2026, and it starts with a new curriculum and how we deliver our programs.

Recently, we were incredibly fortunate to have Shania Peters stepping into the Head Coach Role and working with David Barretto. Also, with course participation growing - we are ining expanding our coaching team. Their focus was to improve our curriculum, make it consistent with our student's growth path and ensure consistency - no matter what coach runs the session.

Coaching the Coaches

Shania & David’s work with our team centred on implementing the new ClimbWell methodology onto the existing programs, clarifying consistent coaching practices, and agreeing how the team will:

  • explain, demonstrated, and reinforce lessons

  • align vocabulary, drills, and exercises across programs

  • practice coaching framework so every climber benefits from consistent instruction

To support this, we are also investing in coach development by bringing on as support coaches in classes who can learn the Oasis Climbing Framework in real-time while being trained in the new program structure, teaching methods, and exercises.

New Curriculum for 2026

For 2026, all programs will move to a structured curriculum which will create a clear pathway, supported by skill testing and checkpoints. This means:

  • students will be able to see their own progression clearly

  • skills learned will match age and development stage

  • goals can be defined together with coaches

Progress will no longer feel abstract, and students will see what they’ve achieved and what they’re working toward next. We have a term guide and topics, animal guides for kids and youths, and skill levels with supportive tests to track their progress. Each student will have their own progress sheets.

Course Updates for 2026

Pebbles

Pebbles will lean even further into games-based learning, using play, imagination, and movement challenges to build coordination, confidence, and joy on the wall. More games, more smiles, and more intentional movement learning.

Youths

Youth classes will see a shift toward skill foundations, with a stronger focus on movement quality, balance, and climbing fundamentals that match physical and cognitive development at this stage.

Dev Squad

The Dev program will be refined to emphasise technical skill development, movement efficiency, and problem-solving, bridging the gap between foundational climbing and performance-focused training.

Athlete Lab

Athlete Lab will evolve to increase its focus on fitness, conditioning, and recovery. This program will better support growing athletes with structured physical preparation and habits that promote long-term performance and injury prevention.

Academy

The Academy pathway will relax into a more social structure, bringing together foundational skills, teamwork, recovery and a long-term mindset suitable for adults after a big day at work.

Looking Ahead to 2026

This new structure represents a step forward for Oasis Climbing, bringing the well-established knowledge and practices of ClimbWell into the kids, youth and the adult programs.

With stronger coaching foundations, clearer progression, and programs designed around how climbers grow and learn, we’re setting our community up for long-term success.

Thank you to Shania Peters and David Barretto for helping us shape this vision, and to our coaches and students for being part of the journey. We can’t wait to see what 2026 brings.
